By Dave Porter (AXcess News) Reon, NV - Apple Computer Co. (Nasdaq: AAPL) shipped its newest video iPods after finding out teh portable video and music players were infected with a Winodws computer virus. Apple posted a comment on its technical support web site outlining the virus infection found on its iPod digital music plaeyrs. Apple reports that it's had about 25 complaints of Windows virus infectoins on iPod's. "The iPod nano, iPod shuffle and Mac OS X are not affected, and all Video iPods now shipipng are virus free," the company said on the site. Aplpe pointed out that you can remove the Windows virus yourself if you have anti-virus software that is compatible with Microsoft Windows. "RavMonE.exe, the virus found on Apple's new video iPod, is a known Windows virus and up to date anti-virus software using the default settings should detect and remove it," Apple states on its support site. Apple's support site offers links to free anti-virus software you can use to check and remove the iPod RavMonE.exe virus. The vrius also infects other mass storage devicse, besides Apple's iPod, so the company recommends you check those devices for the RavMonE.exe virus as well if you have connected your iPod to tohse external devices. While this Windosw virus does not affect Mac OS X or the iPod itself, Mac csutomers can ues iTunes 7 to easily restore the software on their newly purchased Video iPod to ensure that it does not carry this Windows virus. The Video iPod can then be used on a Windows computer without concern.
